    LOCATION:
Located on the water's edge of Pittwater at the western boundary of Bayview Park,
with spectacular, expansive eastern, northern and western views of Bayview Park
    and magnificent Pittwater.
    BRIEF HISTORY:
On 3rd. of June 1981 Warringah Shire Council advertised a meeting at Mona Vale Memorial Hall
in relation to the forming of a Tennis Club to run Bayview Tennis courts on behalf of the Council.
43 people attended and a motion was passed to form the Bayview Tennis Club, electing a five (5)
person Steering Committee to prepare a draft Constitution.
Prior to the establishment of the Club, the courts were leased to a local resident who ran the centre
as a commercial enterprise. It was agreed to pay this outgoing lessee $200 for equipment, including
    nets, brooms and a refrigerator.

The inaugural meeting of Bayview Tennis Club was subsequently held on 17th. June 1982 in the
Banksia Room of the Nelson Heather Senior Citizens Centre at North Narrabeen, with 38 people in
attendance. Membership fees were established at $40 per annum for senior and $10 per annum for
    junior members.

Mr. Bob Cudmore, now deceased, was elected our first President in 1982 and subsequent
    Presidents were as follows:

The first Annual General Meeting was held on Sunday 1st. August 1982 at 10.30 a.m. and ever
since, the Annual General Meeting has been held on the first Sunday in August.

Warringah Shire Council first granted a lease to Bayview Tennis Club in 1987, expiring in 1992.
The lease was then renewed for twenty (20) years, expiring in 2012.
While this lease was signed by the Committee on behalf of the Club, the lease was never ratified
because of the formation of the Pittwater Council. Pittwater Council subsequently granted new lease
for twenty one (21) years, which expires in 2023.

The Club was established initially as Bayview Tennis Club, but on the 14th. May 1991 the Club was
incorporated and became known as Bayview Tennis Club Inc.

The original clay courts, with protruding rocks the size of footballs, were resurfaced with synthetic
grass in 1985 and on the 12th. September 1987, Warringah Shire Council approved the erection of a
new Clubhouse, replacing the original school-style cottage with external toilet facilities, all of which
were in dilapidated condition. The new Clubhouse was erected in 1988 and we have subsequently
extended the decking and added a Vergola roof cover. The courts have been resurfaced twice since
the initial covering and the surrounding fencing has also been renewed.
Today, the improvements are well maintained and present in excellent condition, with sensitive
attention to the unique environment and magnificent waterfront location. Bayview Tennis Club is a
trophy sporting facility in the Pittwater area.

    IMPROVEMENTS:
Constructed on site are (2) competition-standard north/south facing tennis courts with synthetic
grass surface and surrounded with black chain wire fencing. At the northern end of the courts there
is a modern clubhouse facility, constructed in 1988. The clubhouse comprises open plan club room,
three (3) toilet amenities, one (1) shower amenity, two (2) kitchen areas, storerooms and a large
deck on the southern side, opening onto an expansive deck on the eastern and northern side of the
clubhouse. The building is elevated approximately 1.5m from ground level, which provides an
excellent overview of the tennis courts and expansive views of Bayview Park and uninterrupted
northerly views of Pittwater. The facilities are maintained in excellent condition and the courts are
used for both competition and social play.
